As colleagues may be aware the university has approved a new active template for all units and modules in Brightspace designed to provide a consistent threshold for student engagement and support. In implementing this template it has been agreed that all Year 1 and Year 2 modules and units will use the new active Brightspace template from academic year 25/26. The workshop is available to year 1 and year 2 unit/module lecturers but does not preclude other lecturers.

There is also a 10 minute video of the template available in stream.

Outline of workshop ‘Using Brightspace to enhance student engagement and support’

This workshop is designed to introduce and explore the new ‘active’ template for all units and modules in the VLE. The workshop will take you through the template, and you may also wish to follow the template, using your own sandbox area.  This workshop will last 60 minutes.

The workshop will examine:

  • The layout of the active template
  • The functions of Brightspace that make up a minimum active presence

And will include:

  • Sustainable student support
  • Announcements
  • Intelligent Agents
