Lauren Neill

Studied: Visual Communication and Design BAH

Now: Graphic Designer, Campbell Braybrooke Ltd

I am responsible for creating both print and digital materials for the Energy Efficiency Awards and the Energy Efficiency Association. I currently work at Campbell Braybrooke Ltd as a Graphic Designer, producing materials for events across the UK, and I also run my own freelance business, By Lauren.

Since graduating from UHI in 2019, my career has been an exciting journey in design. I have enjoyed seeing my work at national conferences and award events, and I have also had the opportunity to collaborate with Craigrossie Printing, which has opened doors I had not imagined.

The highlight of my career so far has been seeing my designs come to life at major events. Looking ahead, I want to take on more ambitious projects, grow my freelance business, and continue creating design work that makes a real impact.

My studies at UHI gave me the skills and confidence to work across both print and digital platforms. The supportive environment, inspiring lecturers, and small classes allowed me to develop my skills and find my own design voice.

Andrew Macleod

Studied: Theological Studies BA(Hons)

Now: Reverend, Free Church of Scotland

I am now the Minister of New City Church, Dunfermline. After graduating from UHI in Theological Studies in 2015, I went on to study at Edinburgh Theological Seminary, graduating in 2017. That same year, I was licensed as a Minister in the Free Church of Scotland and later ordained as Assistant Minister at Tain and Fearn Free Church. In December 2024 I accepted a call to Dunfermline, and in April 2025 I was inducted as Minister of New City Church.

The biggest highlight of my ministry has been seeing men, women, and young people come to faith in the Lord. Looking ahead, I hope to continue sharing the message of Jesus Christ and to secure a permanent building for the congregation.

Studying at UHI gave me a strong foundation in theology and the support of excellent staff. One of the best parts of the course was the ability to study remotely from Stornoway, which allowed me to keep working alongside my studies.

I am Senior Manager – Maintenance Programs at United Airlines, where I lead a team of professionals developing, optimising, and monitoring aircraft maintenance programs across multiple fleets. My work combines technical expertise with data-driven tools to improve efficiency, reliability, and compliance.

I graduated from UHI in 2014. The following year I returned to India for an internship with Air India, rotating through Avionics, Powerplant, and Reliability. In 2016 I joined Air India full time in the Avionics department, and in 2017 I moved to United Airlines as a Fleet Performance Analyst. The highlight of my career so far has been my promotion to Senior Manager at United Airlines, which reflects my growth from intern to leadership at a global airline. Looking ahead, I hope to continue advancing in aviation leadership, shaping long-term maintenance strategies and mentoring the next generation of professionals.

My course at UHI gave me a solid technical foundation as well as hands-on experience. The international learning environment strengthened my adaptability and communication skills, while the small, supportive classes made a big impact on my confidence.

Robin Wallace

Studied: Leading and Managing Care Services CPD

Now: Head of Older People Residential and Day Care Services, Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership

I am Head of Older People Residential & Day Care for Glasgow City Council, where I oversee strategy, operations, and culture change across vital services.

After graduating from UHI I joined a national homelessness charity as an Operations and Business Manager. In 2016 I was promoted to Senior Operations Manager and began a master’s at the University of Glasgow, which I completed in 2017. That same year, I became Assistant Director of Simon Community Scotland, the country’s largest homelessness charity, before moving into my current role. Alongside my professional journey, two personal milestones have been an amazing marriage and fatherhood

I have had many career highlights, but one that stands out is leading the launch of Scotland’s first alternative giving scheme for people experiencing homelessness and involved in street begging. My aspiration remains to be the best husband, father, colleague, and leader I can be, and to live out my values daily.

My course at UHI was the springboard for this path. It helped me consolidate my experience, step confidently into senior leadership roles, and balance work and study thanks to the flexibility and support it offered.
