Hello, I’m Ria Kirkpatrick, the UHI STEM Outreach Coordinator for Orkney.

I have been a primary teacher for 18 years and have loved developing materials for Early and First Level STEM activities. So, when I saw that the Maths Week Scotland theme for 2025 was Wild Maths!, I was keen to develop something engaging for our young learners.

Bring mathematics and science to life with our collection of Early Level activities designed to explore the wonders of the weather. As children splash in puddles, create shadows, and observe the changing skies, they will playfully engage with their environment and develop key skills.
